Weathered Wood is a crackling medium which, when used with Americana Acrylics or Crafter's Acrylic, will achieve an aged, cracked, antiqued or distressed wood finish on most hard craft surfaces.

• How To Apply: Apply an acrylic paint basecoat color of your chocie. Let Dry. Brush on one even coat of Americana Weathered Wood - do not over stroke. Let Dry. Apply contrasting top coat of acrylic paint over Americana Weathered Wood. Missed areas may be touched up immediately.
• When using Weathered Wood, the thickness of the top coat will directly affect the size of the crackled finish. The heavier the top coat, the larger the cracks.
• Apply the top coat by dabbing with a sponge for small cracks that go in all directions.
• You can antique, shade or paint over the dry, crackled surface before sealing or seal the piece with a light coat of matte spray and then antique, shade or paint on the sealed surface. The final seal should be quite heavy.
• For dramatic results, use a black top coat over a Dazzling Metallics Glorious Gold (DA71) basecoat.
• Use Weathered Wood on new furniture and accessories to make them into instant antiques.

Helpful Hints

• Royal Metallics and Dazzling Metallics colors will not crack when used as the top coat, but they make a great basecoat.
• Weathered Wood is not recommended for pieces that will be exposed to weather or water.
• Brush across for horizontal cracks, up and down for vertical cracks.
