Frank Garcia Moon Child Prima Marketing

hello everyone!

i created this layout in October 2018.  the photo was taken outside the new building my amazing husband put up at the shop where we could host our Scrapbook Events.  Priscilla took this of us outside the venue, while he was braaiing (to my International friends - that is bbq) the meat for lunch.

unfortunately she only took one photo, but i decided to make a double page layout using the small photo.  the Prima Moonchild Collection designed by Frank Garcia is just so gorgeous and the elements so unique, that i wanted to incorporate as much as i could into the project.

 i decided to put the photo in a circle chipboard frame.  this is a gorgeous frame, available from Scrapbook Studio.  i wanted it to match the colours of the papers, so i got some of Finnabair's paints, including Rust Paste Paint.  

i ended up using several more colours, but i do love the end result!  i simply used a paintbrush and applied the paint to the chipboard, blending the colours to my liking.

above you can see the assembly before i added the photo, i took the frame off.  the frames around these intricate chipboard elements really keep them in place while you alter them, so i recommend that you only remove them once you are ready to glue your chipboard to your page.

i used a stunning stencil that came with one of the Prima Stamp Sets - it is a really great design.  i applied Rust Paste through the stencil using a palette knife.  it dries VERY quickly, so you have to make sure you put your stencil in water immediately.

above you can see the end result of the stencil work - to get the shimmer, i misted the stenciled paper with quite a bit of water, and then dabbed some Raven Sparks over it using a paintbrush.  i just let it dry naturally.

i felt i needed to add some solid colour to my layout, so i simply used the same paints to colour some of the pieces of paper.  i then punched a couple of borders and layered them behind the paper blocks.

 in the photo above you can see how it just enhances the elements on those papers.

and here is the final sketch with measurements of the papers used - i did cheat a little and used the 4 x 6 pad from the collection, but you can easily achieve this look by simply cutting 4 x 6 blocks from a 12 x 12 paper and rounding the corners.
